How can we use the dynamics created at the coating surfaces for robotic applications? Danqing Liu and her research team propose the use of liquid crystal polymer networks for soft robotics where the various molecular accessories are assembled in the two dimensions of a coating. Tonight they will present a toolbox to form two dimensional soft robots designed to operate in areas where man and machine come together.
Danqing Liu is Assistant professor (Tenured) at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology. In 2021, she was appointed as Visiting professor at South China Normal University (SCNU). With her research, she foresees that we can make materials that can feel, sense and behave.
